Manure Separation
Turn livestock manure into liquid gold that can be applied right during the growing season
Waiting until Fall to apply manure often means higher compaction and missed yield potential.
With a NutraDrip Manure Separation system, you can apply manure right during the growing season so you get higher nutrient absorption and less compaction.
The separation process also removes up to 90% of the phosphorus.
Separate solids with a two-stage manure separation system
Designed for manure with more than 2% solids, the NutraDrip manure separation system uses a screw press and microfilter to prepare your manure for in-season application through your irrigation or fertigation system.
For manure with less than 2% solids, consider a riverscreen or boll filter system.

The vertical screw press tackles the heavy lifting — removing large, coarse solids that could damage or clog irrigation systems. It produces a liquid that’s ready for fine filtration.
- Up to 200 GPM flow capacity
- Handles manure with 3–6% total suspended solids (TSS)
- Dual vertical screws made from durable SINT engineered polymer
- Self-adjusting counterpressure — no clogging or loss of the plug
- Removes large solids efficiently
- Dry matter content up to 28%
- 7.5 HP motor for consistent, reliable operation

The microfilter acts as the final safety net by removing fine particles, producing a clean, nutrient-rich effluent that’s ready for precision application through your irrigation system.
- Filtration down to 25 microns
- Up to 90 GPM throughput
- Removes 20-90% of phosphorus (keeping phosphorus in the solids reduces environmental risk from runoff and allows you to apply it where it’s needed most)
- Mechanical separation with no binders, polymers, or centrifuges
- Compact, low-cost, self-contained system options available (with tank, pump, mixer, and controls)

Blend & Fertigate with Confidence
Once your manure has been separated into a clean, nutrient-rich liquid, you’re ready to blend it into your irrigation water — just like you would with a fertilizer from the coop.
- Typical water-to-manure blending ratios range from 4:1 to 30:1, depending on your field and crop needs
- Take advantage of automated blending based on electroconductivity (EC), helping you keep nutrient levels in balance and avoid damaging your crop
- Enjoy more precision with nutrient application

Frequently asked questions
What types of manure can NutraDrip's separation systems handle?
Our vertical screw press and microfilter systems are ideal for hog, dairy, and beef manure, along with other low-fiber wastes, digestate from biogas plants, food compost, rubber recycling, and industrial waste.
How do I know what kind of separation system I need?
It depends on your manure source and how you plan to apply nutrients. Here’s a quick overview:
Screw Press + Microfilter System
Best for: Manure with more than 2% solids (e.g., dairy, beef, or hog confinement)
This two-stage system removes coarse and fine solids, producing a clean, nutrient-rich liquid ideal for in-season fertigation through pivot or subsurface drip irrigation.
Riverscreen
Best for: Very dilute effluent with less than 2% solids
Riverscreens float in open lagoons or effluent ponds and pull in cleaner surface water, screening out solids before entering your irrigation system.

Boll Filter
Best for: Filtered effluent with light solids
Installed inline, these automatic backflushing filters screen out remaining particles to protect your system. Often used after a riverscreen or for lighter effluent.
Will separating manure reduce fertilizer costs?
Yes! By separating and using your own nutrient-rich effluent, you can significantly reduce your need for synthetic fertilizers — turning waste into real savings.
Does manure separation reduce the risk of environmental issues?
Absolutely! Separating manure before application has multiple environmental benefits:
- Reduces the risk of phosphorus runoff and leaching – the phosphorus is retained in the solids, which can be transported to fields that need it most
- Enables in-season, underground nutrient application – applying nutrients directly to the root zone lowers the chance of surface runoff
- Lowers greenhouse gas emissions – underground injection reduces ammonia loss and nitrous oxide emissions
- Improves nutrient use efficiency – precise application reduces overuse of nutrients and protects water quality
- Supports healthier plant growth – less nutrient stress, better timing, and more consistent uptake
Is the separation equipment difficult to operate?
Not at all. NutraDrip’s separation solutions are designed for simplicity, reliability, and low operating costs. We also offer support and training to make sure you’re confident using the system.
Can NutraDrip help install and support my manure separation system?
Of course! From system design to installation and ongoing support, we’ll be your guide to make sure your manure management is a success.
