Presented by Kurt Grimm of NutraDrip, this talk covers how manure separation can turn manure from a liability into a usable, in-season nutrient source. Drawing from on-farm experience across the Midwest, Kurt explains how separating solids from liquids allows manure to be applied through drip irrigation, pivots, planters, and foliar systems, while improving phosphorus management and nutrient placement.
The presentation walks through real-world systems, including screw press and micro-filtration down to 25 microns, phosphorus removal rates, and how separated manure fits into the 4R nutrient stewardship framework. You’ll also see yield and water-use-efficiency results from dairy and swine operations using manure through subsurface drip irrigation, along with insights into starter applications, biological activity, and in-season fertigation strategies.
